Orion Lab at EU Space Week 2022

On 6 October 2022, Dr. Ioannis Papoutsis, Head of Orion Lab and Technical Coordinator of DeepCube (https://deepcube-h2020.eu/), presented the project at the EU Space Week in Prague during the joint event “Supporting Copernicus through Big Data and Artificial Intelligence”, which was dedicated to the four projects funded under the call DT-SPACE-25-EO-2020 of the Horizon 2020 programme – namely DeepCube, CALLISTO (https://callisto-h2020.eu/), CENTURION (https://www.centurion-project.eu/) and GEM (https://www.globalearthmonitor.eu/).

The European Space Week is one of the most popular events of the space community, bringing together policy makers, representatives of the space industry, start-ups, entrepreneurs, public authorities, investors and users, to showcase the current and future trends of the EU’s Space Programme and its flagship components Copernicus, EGNOS, Galileo, GOVSATCOM and SSA.

This year’s event was jointly organised by the European Commission and the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) in collaboration with the Czech Presidency of the Council and the City of Prague. The four days of the event were packed with plenaries, panel discussions, award ceremonies and high-level keynote addresses.

The joint event “Supporting Copernicus through Big Data and Artificial Intelligence”, which was organized by CALLISTO in collaboration with DeepCube, CENTURION and GEM, took place at the Prague Expo on 6 October 2022. It was a great opportunity for the four projects to present their scope, objectives, key results and pilot cases to attendees interested in Earth Observation, Copernicus, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Machine Learning.
